OUR WINNIPEG, OUR FUTURE

I am running for mayor of Winnipeg for all the people who believe as I believe that Winnipeg needs a change in LEADERSHIP.

We deserve better.

We need a focused government led by elected representatives who are motivated to put Winnipeggers first, smart enough to find solutions, and who are not swayed by special interests.

We must direct our resources and skills to gain back what we have lost and to move forward to meet our future needs and become a great city again.

Our current problems are challenging but with strong leadership, proper planning and use of our tax dollars much can be achieved.

I am the one who can provide that leadership to help us reach our goals.

My priorities are to restore public safety, repair our infrastructure, maintain quality city services while keeping taxes as low as possible and restoring your trust in our government. I will give every councillor a seat on the Executive Policy Committee, every councillor will vote on important issues, I will impose term limits and act with due diligence at all times.

Thank you all for your support

Please vote on October 27, 2010 and promote your vote for change.

SOME OF THE WAYS I WILL ACHIEVE THESE GOALS:

  • Discontinue use of the photo traffic enforcement program - public safety is threatened

  • Deploy police officers where they are most needed, increase general and foot patrols

  • Re-open community based police service stations, increase number of service stations as needed

  • Increase public awareness of WPS action plans that have already worked to reduce crime such as anonymous reporting of drug-houses and gang-related activity
  • Community revitalization - each neighborhood is unique and I recognize the importance of involving neighborhood organizations as partners
  • Strengthen, support and improve valuable programs and community clubs, sports

  • I will direct our attention and resources to connect downtown to its surrounding neighborhoods. I will pursue long term economic opportunity in partnership with neighborhoods.

  • Demand that the provincial government provide funding for additional police officers to be on site as needed in provincially managed properties within our city to ensure the safety of Manitoba Housing residents and their neighbours, request additional funding to implement well thought out action plans for people who are homeless

  • Review the 311 communication system, 311 is operated by the same foreign company that operates the photo enforcement system

    Much more to come...

A great city must have:
safety and security, an exceptional economy, sound infrastructure, efficient reliable services,
recreation and leisure, local jobs, opportunity, fair taxes and affordable housing.
